So you want to repurpose your blog content into engaging X videos and shorts?

You’ve spent hours crafting thoughtful blog posts that deliver value, but they’re sitting in your content library, seen by only a fraction of your potential audience.

Meanwhile, platforms like X (formerly Twitter) are buzzing with activity, offering massive reach and engagement for those who understand the format.

The struggle is real: you’ve already invested time creating great content, but figuring out how to transform your long-form blogs into snappy, attention-grabbing X videos feels overwhelming.

Why you should repurpose your blog posts for X videos/shorts

Here’s the reality most content creators miss: you never truly know which platform will resonate best with your message until you try.

Back in 2020, I created a series of YouTube videos about note-taking that got decent but not spectacular traction. On a whim, I decided to repurpose that same content for Medium articles.

The results? Shocking.

Those repurposed articles exploded in popularity, allowing me to launch a profitable course and add 3,000 email subscribers to my list in just 12 weeks.

All from content that already existed.

This difference in performance wasn’t because the content quality changed – it was because different platforms attract different audiences with different consumption preferences. The algorithm, timing, and community all play crucial roles in how content performs.

The main differences between blogs and X videos/shorts

Blog posts are comprehensive, SEO-driven, and designed for readers who want deep dives.

They’re discoverable for years through search engines and allow for nuanced exploration of complex topics.

X videos/shorts, on the other hand, are:

  • Brief and punchy (typically under 2 minutes)
  • Visually-driven with attention-grabbing openings
  • Optimized for immediate impact and shareability
  • Designed to stop scrollers in their feeds
  • Perfect for single, focused takeaways

Why you should post X Videos now

X’s video format is relatively new and underutilized compared to platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

This creates a significant opportunity for early adopters.

Many creators report substantially higher reach with video posts compared to text-only tweets.

That’s because X is pushing this new format right now.

Plus, X’s audience tends to be more professionally-oriented and often has higher purchasing power than some other platforms.

What makes good X video content from blogs

The key to successful blog-to-X video conversion isn’t simply reading your blog post on camera. It’s extracting the most potent elements that work in a visual, fast-paced environment.

Focus on:

1. Strong hooks: The first 3 seconds must grab attention (“Here’s why most experts fail to monetize their knowledge…”)

2. One clear takeaway: Don’t try to cover your entire blog post. Extract a single powerful point.

3. Visual support: Use text overlays, simple graphics, or demonstration elements to reinforce your message.

4. Storytelling structure: Problem → Complication → Resolution works brilliantly in short formats.

5. Call-to-action: Direct viewers to your full blog post for more depth.

For example, a 1500-word blog post on “7 Expert Positioning Strategies” might become a series of seven X videos, each focusing on a single strategy with a specific example and visual demonstration.

How To Format Your X Video Posts

The best way to format your X video post is to start with the intriguing first frame.

Start with a trendy topic and original angle.

Make the text above the video very short, inviting the user to watch the video.

Take a look at this example:

Build Your Swipe File Of Winning X Video Content

The fastest path to creating effective X videos is studying what’s already working on the platform.

Start by finding creators who are new to X videos but getting significant engagement. This is crucial because established accounts with large followings can succeed with content that would flop for newer creators.

Look specifically for:

  • Videos with high retweet and comment counts relative to the creator’s follower count
  • Content in your niche or adjacent spaces
  • Videos that transform educational content into engaging visual formats

Take screenshots, save links, and analyze patterns in:

  • Opening hooks
  • Visual presentation style
  • Pacing and length
  • Call-to-action approaches

This research phase may seem time-consuming, but it will save you countless hours of trial and error.

Set up an automation to turn blog posts into X videos

Okay, so now that you have these laid out…

You could either do this manually like a monkey.

Hire a VA that you need to train for weeks on Fiverr…

Or (my favorite way):

You could use AI and automation tools to make this process as smooth as butter.

Here’s an example:

As soon as you publish a new blog post, an automation workflow extracts key points and transforms them into X video scripts.

You can build this using tools like n8n, Make (formerly Integromat), or Zapier.

A simple workflow might look like:

1. WordPress/blog platform publishes new post

2. Automation tool triggers and extracts the content

3. AI tool (like ChatGPT via API) receives this prompt:

“Transform this blog post into 3 separate scripts for X videos. Each script should be 60-90 seconds when read aloud, focus on a single key concept from the article, start with a strong hook, and end with a call to action pointing to the full blog post. Include notes for visual elements that should appear on screen.”

4. The scripts get sent to your preferred video creation tool or to your email

This automation alone can save you 1-2 hours per blog post while ensuring your X videos maintain a consistent format optimized for the platform.

Stop letting your valuable blog content collect dust when it could be working double-duty for you across platforms. Your knowledge deserves to be seen by more people.
