So you want to repurpose your content from Medium to LinkedIn?
I get it. You spend hours crafting thoughtful stories on Medium, only to watch them fade into the internet abyss after a few days.
Your expertise deserves more eyeballs. Your ideas could be connecting with professionals on LinkedIn who need your insights right now.
But the thought of recreating all that content from scratch? Exhausting.
Why you should repurpose from Medium to LinkedIn
Here’s the truth most content creators miss: you never really know what kind of content will resonate on which platform until you try.
Back in 2020, I created YouTube videos about note-taking systems. They performed decently, but nothing special. On a whim, I decided to repurpose those exact same ideas into Medium articles.
The results shocked me. Those repurposed ideas exploded on Medium, which led to launching a profitable 5-figure course and adding 3,000 email subscribers to my list in just 12 weeks.
This difference isn’t random. It happens because:
- Each platform has different audience expectations
- Algorithms favor different content formats
- Timing and trends affect performance differently across platforms
- Your natural voice might simply fit better on certain platforms
The main differences between Medium and LinkedIn
Medium is all about depth. Readers come looking for complete explanations and thoughtful perspectives. The algorithm rewards time spent reading and complete read-throughs.
LinkedIn, on the other hand, is about professional insights and network-building. The feed moves fast, favors shorter, punchier content, and thrives on professional credibility.
Why you should post on LinkedIn
LinkedIn offers something Medium simply can’t: direct access to decision-makers and potential clients.
While your Medium story might get read by thousands, your LinkedIn post might get read by the right thousand people – those who can hire you, partner with you, or invest in your ideas.
With 900+ million users and professional context already baked in, LinkedIn creates natural opportunities for your expertise to translate into business relationships.
What makes good LinkedIn content
The most successful LinkedIn content has these characteristics:
- Shorter paragraphs: 1-2 sentences max
- Personal stories with professional relevance: “Here’s what happened when I tried…”
- Actionable takeaways: Practical tips readers can implement immediately
- Visual breaks: Line spaces, emojis, and simple formatting to improve readability
- Conversation starters: Ending with thought-provoking questions
For example, instead of a Medium story about “10 Content Marketing Strategies That Increase Engagement,” you might repurpose it into a LinkedIn post that starts:
“I wasted $50,000 on content that nobody read last year.
Then I discovered these 3 content triggers that changed everything…
[Share the 3 best points from your Medium article]
Which of these would you try first?”
Build Your Swipe File Of Winning LinkedIn Content
Don’t guess what works on LinkedIn – study it systematically.
The best approach is to find content creators who are relatively new to LinkedIn but getting exceptional engagement. The big influencers with millions of followers can get away with almost anything, but newer creators have to nail the platform’s specific dynamics.
Look for:
- Posts with 100+ comments from creators with under 10,000 followers
- Content in your niche that gets shared widely
- Different post formats (text-only, carousel, video) to see what performs best
Save these as screenshots with notes about what makes them work.

Set up an automation to turn Medium stories to LinkedIn posts
Okay, so now that you’ve laid these elements out…
You could either do this manually like a monkey.
Hire a VA that you need to train for weeks on Fiverr…
Or (my favorite way):
You could use AI and automation tools to make this process as smooth as butter.
Here’s an example:
As soon as you publish on Medium, an automation could extract your article, reformatting it for LinkedIn’s style and character limits.
You can create these automations with tools like:
- n8n
- Make (formerly Integromat)
- Zapier
A simple workflow might look like:
1. Medium RSS feed → detects new story
2. Extract story content
3. Send to ChatGPT API with prompt: “Reformat this Medium article for LinkedIn. Keep the core insights but make it scannable with short paragraphs. Include a provocative opening, 3-4 main points, and end with a question. Keep under 1,300 characters.”
4. Send reformatted content to your email for final review
5. Schedule LinkedIn post
Stop letting your brilliant Medium stories gather dust when they could be opening doors on LinkedIn with minimal extra effort.
