So you want to repurpose your blog posts into X threads?
Smart move. Converting your existing content into different formats isn’t just convenient—it’s strategic.
Most content creators don’t realize they’re sitting on goldmines. That perfectly crafted blog post gathering dust on your website? It could be your next viral thread on X.
There should be a real strategy behind repurposing content. Because the truth is, you don’t really know what kind of content is going to resonate on which platform.
For example, I had YouTube videos about note-taking and the Zettelkasten that didn’t take off, but the same information/content on Medium actually did and helped me launch a profitable course and added almost 3,000 new subscribers to my email list in 4 months. This difference is due to various factors such as the audience, the algorithm, the timing, and so on…
The main differences between blogs and X threads
Blog posts and X threads might both be text-based content, but they exist in completely different ecosystems:
Blog posts:
- Long-form (1,000+ words)
- SEO-driven
- Comprehensive and detailed
- Designed for people actively searching for information
- Consumed when readers have time to dive deep
X threads:
- Short, punchy segments (typically under 280 characters per post)
- Algorithm-driven distribution
- Conversational and engaging
- Designed for scrollers, not searchers
- Consumed in quick bursts while people are taking breaks
Why you should post on X
X (formerly Twitter) offers unique advantages that complement your blogging strategy:
- Immediate feedback: You’ll know within hours if your content resonates
- Network building: Direct engagement with industry leaders and potential customers
- Low barrier to entry: No need for fancy designs or formatting
- Potential for virality: The right thread can reach thousands, even millions
- Community testing: Test ideas before investing in full blog posts
Build Your Swipe File Of Winning X Threads
Okay, so the best way to actually write threads for X is to find content that is already performing well. The reason is because each platform has its own rules.
For instance, what works on X is often very different from what works on LinkedIn or your blog. X rewards concise points, hooks that stop the scroll, and valuable insights delivered in bite-sized chunks.
So you want to find specific examples to understand what exactly to extract and rewrite.
PRO TIP: One of the best ways is to always find creators who are new to the platform and actually get a lot of traction. The reason why you don’t want to model the gurus is because they already have traction so they can actually get away by doing things that might not necessarily work for you as a small account.
Yes, this requires a bit of upfront work. But it will be well worth it.

There’s a free social media swipe file that you can grab here. (yup, it’s free.)
Set up an automation to turn blog posts to X threads
Okay, so now that you’ve have these laid out, what you can do is use AI and automation tools to make this process as smooth as butter.
As soon as you post on your blog, it will then actually perform and actually use this for X.
You can start creating automations by utilizing specific prompts to save your time.
Tools like n8n, Make, or Zapier can create simple workflows that take your blog content and transform it into thread-ready format.
Here’s a simple workflow example:
1. When a new blog post is published (trigger)
2. Extract the content and URL
3. Send to an AI tool with this prompt:
“Transform this blog post into a 10-part X thread. Keep each part under 280 characters. Make the first tweet super engaging with a hook. Include 2-3 actionable insights from the article. End with a call to action to read the full post at [BLOG_URL]. Use simple language and add relevant emojis sparingly.”
4. Review the generated thread (optional)
5. Schedule or post directly to X
The beauty of this system is you only need to set it up once, and it keeps working for every new blog post you publish.
