Steal This $15,000/Month Boring Content Strategy

By Matt Giaro

I’ve been making money online for a decade. But I burned out twice.

I went through:

  • Divorce
  • Back surgery
  • And lost 99% of my friends

That’s the dark side of entrepreneurship nobody wants to talk about.

One of the main reasons is that I was busting my butt with overcomplicated strategies and was always looking for the fancy.

Today, I’m the complete opposite.

My business is boringly simple:

  • I work only 4 hours a day.
  • I work with clients I enjoy helping.
  • And I publish daily content about ideas that fire me up.

It’s better (and simpler) than ever.

It wasn’t supposed to happen

It’s easy to think of $15,000 a month as a massive amount of money.

It’s not.

It’s a number anyone can achieve once you get decent at content creation and stick to it long enough.

I feel weird writing this. Because when I first started creating content, my goal was to make $3,000 a month. I had low ambitions. And the only thing I wanted was to be my own boss.

But I thought making money was hard. So I made it hard on myself.

It took me 3 years to consistently hit $3,000 a month. Then, I made 5 grand. Then 7. Then 10. Then I made some big launches that brought in $100k in a matter of 14 days.

It blew my mind.

People around me thought that the internet was a scam. But I believed in that dream. I brainwashed myself by:

  • Taking courses
  • Listening to podcasts and audiobooks
  • And consuming content from people who were where I wanted to be.

The more you stretch yourself, the more it’s possible.

Stop destroying your brain

97% of internet wantrepreneurs are addicted to novelty like junkies to fentanyl.

They change their business model every week and wonder why they’re still not successful.

But the only content strategy that works is the one you can stick to over the long term. It’s not about being boring or exciting. It’s about being consistent.

Boring makes you think of:

  • A 9–5 job
  • Doing your taxes
  • Reading a 600-page book on the history of accounting.

You can do something that looks boring and still find it exciting.

That’s your unique advantage.

I publish articles every day. Some think that’s boring. I don’t.

Find what fires you up and what you see yourself doing for the next 30 years.

Then, stop overthinking. Just do the work.

Give complicated strategies the finger

The best content strategies are simple.

They’re straightforward. They don’t require hacks, tricks, or a 47-step process. Complex means you have to spend a year of your life learning it.

That’s why I like to keep things simple.

Here’s what it looks like:

  1. Find 1 niche.
  2. Pick 1 problem to solve.
  3. Stick to 1 platform.
  4. Write daily about it.
  5. Build your email list.
  6. Sell products or services to that list.

Where’s the ninja stuff? There isn’t any. Stop making excuses looking for the fancy. Go do the boring.

Simple > fancy.

Your most important asset

If you don’t have people interested in what you have to say, you’re talking to an empty room.

When you have an audience, you can make money with:

  • Books
  • Courses
  • Software
  • Retreats
  • Coaching
  • Physical products
  • What the heck you want!

So the first thing is to build your audience.

There are only two ways to build an audience: organic (‘free’) content or paid ads.

If you love spreadsheets, formulas, and looking at numbers, go and learn paid advertising. But if Facebook banned you (or you’re a creative like me), publish organic content.

Pick a platform and post on it every day.

Go deep and study:

  • The hidden rules of the platforms.
  • How other creators are crushing it.
  • & how to create stuff that resonates with others.

Stick with it for at least 6 months. Else, you’re giving up too early.

It doesn’t matter which one you choose as long as you enjoy playing the game. Otherwise, you’ll get distracted and fail.

Own your audience

You’ve heard this a thousand times before.

So let me repeat it again: you need an email list.

I take people from the platform to my email list because that’s the only media I own.

I can log into my autoresponder and download a CSV file. So if I get banned, I won’t lose my audience.

Platforms are rented land. You can’t build a business on it. You can’t control it. You don’t own it.

They can kick your butt anytime and destroy your reach.

You get people to read your stuff on the platform. Then you take them off the platform to your email list, where you can sell to them.

Every piece you publish should lead to one thing: your email list.

How I make 99.7% of my money

Most creators sh*t their pants when they hear “daily emails.”

They think that it means becoming spammy and annoying their audience. So they leave thousands on the table every month.

I send a daily email to my list.

Each email is a short insight that’s useful. At the end of the email, I plug a product.

The email is free. The products I sell are paid. It’s a no-brainer for people who want to go deeper. Whether you buy or not, the email gives you a fresh insight.

So it’s a win-win for everyone.

1 bonus tip to make more $

Most creators don’t have enough products to sell. 3 at best.

An email list is useless if you have nothing to sell. It’s like walking into a store with empty shelves.

So the next skill you want to learn is to create offers people want to buy. Else, you’ll end up like all the influencers who sell their asses to ads and sponsors.

They sponsor:

  • VPNs
  • Meal delivery services
  • Or dropshipping crap you can get for $1 on Alibaba.

What a pity.

It makes them look cheap, p!sses their audiences off, and makes them click “skip.”

I sell my own products. That way, the money-making part is relevant to my audience. And I can keep 100% of the profit.

I have two types of products:

  1. Online courses that teach people how to monetize their expertise with online content. You can snag them for a few hundred bucks.
  2. One-on-one mentoring for a handful of clients, which is my “high ticket” offer.

Let’s finish here

A profitable content strategy is simple.

You designed around the lifestyle you want. Then, you learn the basics of building an audience and creating offers.

Then, you simply repeat the process every day for the next 3 years.

Cheers.
